Fresh Backstraps!

Found this little guy just north of the house this morning. They're actually fawning a little early this year, maybe they're dropping early because the abundant feed from all the rain we've had. I had to shrink the pics for blogger but if you click on them a little better version will open up.

BTW, if you ever find a newborn fawn and want to make sure it's mother will never take care of it so it slowly starves, here's what you do:

Cute! Better make some sausage out of it soon before it starves to death.

The one I found has a good chance of making it. I didn't disturb it so mama should return. I'll give it few years safe passage before thinking about turning it into bite-sized portions.

The other fawn is a gonner. I hope she gets cited for possessing and transporting wildlife w/o a permit. (Yep, that's illegal in TX.)

I missed the hash this happened at so I heard about it 2nd hand. She found it on trail & took it to the end. The ditz was a newbie and several hashers & locals told he not to pick it up.
